Veronica

Programme: RWE IT Graduate Programme

Location of current rotation: Swindon

My role as a graduate within the RWE IT Graduate Scheme involves six-month rotations across IT teams within the business. Having already completed two rotations in Swindon, UK with RWE Generation UK and Essen, Germany with RWEST, my current rotation is with the IT Business Innovations team at RWE Generation SE.

My current day-to-day tasks include exploring, identifying and pitching new technological innovations that could be adopted within the business. You can also find me addressing business pain points through user-centred workshops to identify, envisage, prototype and test possible innovative IT solutions.

My more regular tasks include performing studies, acquiring and sharing new methods and ways of working, promoting the culture of technological innovation within the business and identifying and exploring possible innovative business opportunities, partnerships with start-ups, suppliers and universities. It’s always a busy day!

On-the-job training

I have received a variety of training since joining RWEST, both soft and hard skill training. When focusing on soft skills, I learnt about change and resilience, complex problem solving, giving and receiving feedback, critical thinking, remote self-management and so much more! My hard skills training consisted of an ITIL 4 Certification, ENDUR Training, comprehensive courses on the energy market and even a LinkedIn learning subscription, where I can learn topics of my choice.

Loving where you work

The thing I enjoy most is exploring and testing innovative technologies and figuring out how that helps us achieve carbon neutrality and supply cleaner energy.  I am excited about seeing these new innovative technologies be implemented, at scale, leading us to the forefront of the energy industry globally.
